About the Blazers Team

The Team


Never known to have missed either a training session or match Kaylum is renowned for his quiet unassuming attitude which hides a rock like determination. From its earliest days Kaylum has been a member of the club and through sheer dedication he has earned his place in the club’s third division squad, playing off 2.5 points.


Kelvin captain’s the club’s third division squad and team on court. A qualified Level Two British Wheelchair Basketball coach Kelvin is a key member of the club and serves on the Management Committee as a player representative. Kelvin plays off 1 point.


Michael is the fourth member of the founding squad of the club and is probably the fastest player on the court and therefore plays’ a key role in offensive play. Michael plays off 1 point and only misses a club activity if he’s attending the Le Mans 24 hours car race in France.


Paul is one of our experienced and valued club coaches. Paul is also a keen, and successful, competitive wheelchair tennis player.


Rob joined the Blazers in late 2012 after relocating his home to Gloucestershire. With previous experience in the sport Rob has become a useful member with broad playing experience


Stacey's interest in the sport originated from the Beijing Olympics. After a couple of seasons of play he has now taken on the role of Table Official, qualifying at the University of Gloucestershire


Tom has been with the club since its formation and is a key member of the club. At his best in offensive play but a good all rounder on the court. Tom is a qualified BWB Level One Coach and plays off 1 point and is one of the club’s most dedicated players, rarely missing a training session or game.


Charmaine joined us in late 2012 after an injury sustained during her military service in Afghanistan and the club training programme has played on important role in her recovery.Whilst at Headley Court she qualified as a BWB Level One coach and Captain's our second team. Known to all by her nickname of ‘Chicken’ - Why ‘Chicken’ – well try it with Charmaine !


Claire joined us in late 2012 and by regular attendance at club training sessions has quickly developed her wheelchair and ball skills and has gained her place in the Club's 4 Div squad.


Helen has been with the club for some five years now and plays in the Club's 4 Div team but her determination and ambition gives her a future in the club


One of our younger players Louis has been with us for three years now and has made considerable headway in his competitive play.


Luke is a key member of the club's 2 Div squad, fast and accurate on court


Hannah is our No1 table official, we're indebted to her for her commitment to the club. No table official - no match


Jean is the club secretary doing all things that club secretary’s do; arranging matches, venues, members BWB registration and generally making sure ‘everyone’s in the picture’


Leslie looks after our accounts which includes the important task of fund raising and Chairs the club’s management committee.


Terry is the club’s Team Manager, ensuring that players are aware of the arrangements for matches, organising transport and movement of the team and the sports wheelchairs and generally making sure the team can give their all to the match.

Our appreciation to the volunteers without whom the club could not operate and therefore could not exist.
